"I almost NEVER leave bad reviews, but trust me.. This one couldn’t be held back. I just came in today. I had an appointment at 9am for mini foils with one of the apprentices. I am pretty humble so I don’t mind having someone that is new work on my hair.. What bothered me at the very beginning was no one that higher above was watching her do my hair or keep an eye on her as at almost any other place you go to with with an apprentice, they are being monitored to make sure nothing is going wrong.. The start of the appointment was good, she was very lovely to talk to and I enjoyed her company, the first red flag for me was when she convinced me not to get mini foils and instead do a root smudge on its own. But i ignored my intuition. Throughout the appointment I watched her place the colour on my hair and not blend it AT ALL, usually with a root smudge you apply the colour and comb through or smudge it with your fingers, she did not do either of these steps. The colour did not take to my hair so then she put a darker colour on top, which would’ve been fine if again, she had smudged it properly. At the end of the appointment I felt a little gaslit into liking the colour as she met me with “this is more what you wanted!!” and just kept making me feel nervous to speak up. After I left and saw it in the daylight I realized it looked completely unblended, with no transition whatsoever and was WAY too dark, plus the toner that was used on my blonde didn’t really do anything. I immediately sent her pictures and a message saying that I was a bit unhappy with the results, not being mean at all, i was very nice about it, hoping for a response from her to possibly come back in the next day. Instead, I got left on read lol. Wow. So then, I called the salon and spoke to one of the receptionists who was very dismissive and said “Sooo, what are you not loving about it?” when I had JUST told her what I did not love about it. She told me to come back in for the apprentice to fix it, and I had said I didn’t feel comfortable with that as it could damage my hair even more. She then said she could book me back in for Tuesday with another stylist but it would cost more. (Are you kidding me? I have to pay to have a mistake your salon made fixed when an apprentice wasn’t be monitored?!) She then said she would speak to the apprentice and call me back. It has now been almost an hour and I have heard nothing back. So here I am, $140 later, colour removing my own hair at home. My mom is a level 4 hairstylist. Has been in the industry for over 25 years. I sent her a picture of the job and she was SHOCKED. At this point, I do not want it fixed. I want a refund and an apology. Moral of the story, do not come here. Overpriced, and rude employees."

"I was there for facial, eyebrow and massage. Owner lady didnt gave all the stuff to girl who was doing my facial, she dont know what to do, dont have any experience of facial and massage. After she did my eyebrows and messed them too. Then she have audacity to charge me $100 for basic facial that was not done properly. Very bad experience, dont recommend. Some other people also went there from my friend circle for hair cut. She messed their hair cut too. They also had very bad experience."

"I had an incredible experience at Elmwood spa! I recently celebrated my birthday and was gifted an experience here from a friend, which I happily put to use today. Although it was my first time at Elmwood, I have consistently heard overwhelmingly positive reviews of this spa from family, friends, neighbours and colleagues, so I anticipated having a great experience and my expectations were far exceeded in every aspect. From my relaxing hot stone massage, to the water therapies, and a delicious 3-course birthday lunch (complete with a birthday candle on my dessert, which was such a lovely touch) I had the best day. The service I received throughout the day was outstanding and each space is kept in immaculate condition. I also had one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced with Patrick. I can’t wait to return!"

"I had the most phenomenal prenatal salt stone ritual. It truly was so thought out, every single detail. It included a belly mask, and the hot salt stone. It also included face and head and arms and legs and just everything was serene and relaxing. The bed was warmed as well and your robe is given back to you heated also! The massage was primarily on one side then another. This was much mroe comfy for me than typical prenatal massages that have you on your stomach on that pillow with a hole in it. Still puts pressure/not comfortable. I had terrible lower back pain and today’s treatment offered a lot of relief. The masseuse was very knowledgeable and kind. Service was really good. Pool and lounging areas are very relaxing and there’s always someone around to help or answer questions."

"Such a beautiful spa. I’ll definitely be back! I feel like they don’t overbook people which is nice because often I had the whole pool or sitting area to myself so it was ultimate relaxing. I also went on a weekday which could have been why. Everything from the music to the ambience was so relaxing. I did the lime and macadamia 90 minute scrub and wrap and my god was it absolute heaven. The staff are amazing. The facilities are so clean. For anyone that’s going with the opposite gender, the pool and hot tub area in these pics are shared which is nice. The steam rooms are in the changing rooms. Can’t wait to go back!!!"

"You get the massage you pay for. Woke up with stiff shoulders and a stiff upper back on Saturday. Called in then to book an appointment for Monday late afternoon. Asked if it would be a RMT. They said to call in on Monday to confirm. Called in Monday, and they confirmed it would be a RMT. All good there. On Monday, however, I don't know what sort of RMT my masseuse was, nor what sort of technique they chose to use. (It definitely wasn't aromatherapy because I didn't smell a thing.) But did the service get the kinks out of my shoulders and upper back? Yes. But was the customer service good enough to really call the shop a "spa"? Well... During my 90-minute session, my private room was interrupted at least twice while I was stripped naked under the sheets on the spa bed. Once without knocking, where a lady barged in to drop something off for my attendant. Then another time, when the attendant in the next room came in grab additional supplies for her client. (They might've even left the door open while inside my private room grabbing things, I am not sure.) As for the massage itself: as mentioned, I don't know what technique the non-English-speaking Chinese masseuse was using, but the head massage sucked. It did nothing for me. I think the lady had the intention to apply the same techniques East Asian hairdressers use while shampooing your hair to this head massage? For whatever reason? I do not think there was a strategy to why they made the rubs/scratches they did. Then when my massage was over, my associate was rushing me to get changed by knocking twice (!) within five minutes. Apparently, she could not wait that long for me to leave my room to take the garbage to the streets for city garbage pick-up. If you can't wait five full minutes for me to change and leave just so you can enter and clear the trash bin in my private room, then you have a major scheduling issue. This review is 2-stars because you get what you pay for here. My shoulders and upper back are clear-ish, but boy, this is definitely not the place to go if you need a *spa* massage. Unfortunately, all the usual, more well-known spa places downtown (e.g., Elmwood, Novo, etc.) were booked for my preferred time slots when I checked Saturday. I don't like being someone who writes negative reviews, but from someone who did check the reviews before booking, and saw all the "I come downtown *just* for the massage/service!" reviews, I really wonder what kinda service they got during their appointment. Because it did not happen for me."

The service offered here is top drawer. Cleanup of my face is thorough and gentle. I'm not one to chat through a service, and really appreciate the quiet that is offered so that I can really enjoy the facial and face massage. It isn't a speedy put on and take off of products, and there isn't a constant sales pitch. What I have consistently come away with is clean, beautiful skin. I'm a fan. No... I'm a raving fan. She felt as so someone just sloshed oil on her for an hour and destroyed her hair by getting it full of oils. Left with more muscle tension than when we initially went in with. Floors are dirty and need to be vacuumed. Appointment was booked for 5 and the massage girls didn't come in till 515. Waste of 168.00 dollars. STAY AWAY"
