Anita and the team are all wonderful, always very kind and respectful. The moment you step in the door there is a sense of relaxation, I highly recommend booking a appointment, be prepared after your first appointment you will want to book many. I highly recommend all the services this wonderful relaxing place offers.
My appt was at 12 and I arrived at 11:50 thinking I can check in, maybe pay in advance since I was in a rush after. Everything was locked, the massage lady arrived at exactly 12 ( when my massage was supposed to already start) and I was told to wait so they can setup. So l was already stressed that i ll be late to my next appointment. Person didnt even apologize for being late, wasnt friendly, was rushing, the place was cold and she also had freaking nails that I def felt on my skin even though the massage was good. Despite it being a good massage I was not having a good experience at all. Real professionals arrive earlier than the set appt, warm the place up, play some music, welcome the client... Do NOT recommend this as a spa. There are so many other spas you can spend your time and money at. Not this one. Maybe they re good at smth else, idk...
Anita is a wonderful practitioner - her treatments are healing and rejuvenating. Jeevanaya Wellness is a gem within our community. Highly recommended.
Authentic treatments from Kerela South India, Anita is trained by experienced doctors in india and she has a sincere love of these treatments. Her work reveals her caring attention to detail. My 4 days of Abhyange and Shirodhere felt deeply restoretive in the physical body as well as the subtle body of the nadis and the nervous system. Added bonus that my friends tell me 1look a decade younger, I am familiar with these treatments and followed the protocols of remaining indoors with a quiet lifestyle and a gentle diet, I am deeply grateful that Jeevanaya offers these treatments so we need not travel to india. Had my first massage from them a week before and it was good . I booked an appointment the following Tuesday around by calling them . The lady at the counter whose name is Anita assured me that I can book an appointment by calling them .so I called . Nobody pick up my call at first however I tried again . She told me she will book an appointment for the comming Saturday and later I got an appointment for the Saturday at 1:45 pm . It was little late but I was ok . However around 1:00 pm on Saturday got an email cancelling my appointment . I called 3 times . Got weird email about that I already had an appointment with them I emailed to them again asking them what is going on ? Nobody responded . After 2 days somebody called me and asking me about why I called . I told them my reason . He also told me that he will get back to me after inquiring people around but he didn’t respond back . I have to call myself to hear them made up story . They were trying to put on me that I didn’t confirm . I must say they don’t know what they are doing . Very weird and disrespectful way of treating client . It’s not that I was getting a free treatment . I paid whatever they asked for still got discriminated . I will not recommend this place to anybody .
Chose this 'spa' based upon online reviews (rated 5*). Went with an open mind and was looking forward to a relaxing experience. Doors were locked upon arrival. Provider late; said she missed her bus. Shoes were to be removed but floors were cold and did not seem very clean. Was offered the one pair of large sandals at entrance (they were dirty!). I cleaned my flipflops off and asked if ok to wear them. This will seem like a harsh review but it is warranted to prevent others from a similar experience. Older washroom with toilet paper rolls on a holder on the floor (should be a dispenser, easy to access). Watered down hand soap. No soft music upon arrival. Treatment room furnished with old electric fireplace (tacky). Massage table had very, very old flannel sheets (from the 70's as they were in my childhood home too). Sheets were rough and 'pilly'; there were several strands of hair that I picked off. I TRIED to remain optimistic about the treatments. The table was lumpy and very uncomfortable, though. I was soooo cold and told the provider several times but she did nothing! She said the fireplace gave off heat???! A door kept opening right into the treatment room during the session (there is a screen that blocks the door but it was uncomfortable to think that someone was looking into the room or potentially coming in). Could hear the conversation in the room next door (another business). Provider did not explain what she was doing for either treatment and did not present the products to me in advance (eg. for the facial and massage--the oils, lotions, equipment, etc.). The head massage was not worth it at all; my hairstylist does a much better job! It appeared that a disinfectant wipe was used on my feet. The texture felt like one (it was not a cloth). Also I heard a crinkly sound which I thought could be the provider wearing gloves. Later, I saw a container of disinfectant wipes on the other massage table (beside me). The wipes were anti-fungal and meant for heavy duty cleaning of surfaces! I asked the provider whether she used wipes on my feet after the session was over. She said she only used them for cleaning and not for my feet. But my feet were dry later in the day which makes no sense after oils were applied? Not certain but it sure felt like wipes. The massage table was lumpy and very uncomfortable. I was there on my back for almost 2 HOURS! The provider did the facial in the same room. I should have been sitting upright (later the owner said that I should have been in another room, sitting upright for the facial). My back was sore. The provider did not explain anything--products, next steps, when she was leaving the room, etc. It was so strange and discomforting. I asked for a wet face cloth after the oily massage but the provider said that she had just put serum on my face....yet...I am the client and I wanted a cloth so it should have been provided. I wanted to clean off the excess oils on my neck, arms, hand, etc. before getting dressed. There is no shower to rinse off. I used the rough sheets to wipe off although I was very cold in that room. The music was the same for 2 hours--kept repeating. It was a dripping water sound. Not soothing at all. The owner arrived just before I was leaving. I gave her much of this feedback. I took the high road and paid for the services but it was not at all worth it. I paid because this is a small business but the owner should have offered something due to all of the problems. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all. There are many other cleaner, quality spas out there that warrant one's patronage. Very disappointing. Update: I contacted the owner again to request a refund as after considering all of the issues, the experience was not worth it at all. It was supposed to be a spa day but it was horrible. Owner has not replied to my 2 emails.
I just experienced a Abhyanga-Ayurvedic treatment with Anita. It was Amazing and so relaxing. 10/10 !
The booking process wasn’t so straight forward and little frustrating with Jeevanaya Wellness. It’s difficult to reach anyone at the clinic. Emails are rarely answered. When I tried calling a few times there was no answer. I left voice messages and didn’t get a call back. I had to finally use a combination of facebook messenger and emails & calls to book something in. Not ideal or efficient or professional. When we finally booked I was asked give my credit card number to reserve the spot. I’ve never been asked this from any wellness clinic upfront. A little shady in my opinion. A business can have a cancellation policy and leave it at that. Anyway, my spouse and I both booked a 60 minutes Abhyanga massage. My therapist’s name was Svetlana D. When asking her what is a abhyanga massage I was told it’s like Swedish massage but with oil. Okay. The room was nice, spacious. Quiet enough. About mid-way into my massage, I asked my therapist to apply more pressure. She agreed reluctantly but I didn’t feel any extra pressure. So I asked again. That’s when the experience went downhill for me. I was told by Svetlana that my muscles were too tight meaning she can’t apply more pressure and "I don't know what you're expecting". I was stunned so I remained quiet. The last thing I wanted is to argue with my therapist in the middle of what's supposed to be a relaxing massage. In the 15 years I've been going for massage of all types in various countries around the world, I've never had a therapist refuse to apply more pressure or give me a lame excuse like “my muscles were too tight”. Isn't that partly the point of a massage, to loosen and relax tight muscles? I found out later through the owner that my therapist was NOT a registered massage therapist. I was told she's a registered Osteopath and on her way to becoming a registered Massage Therapist (RMT). When I pay over $100 for a treatment I expect, and assume, I'm getting a massage from a registered Massage Therapist. If I wanted an Osteopath, I would have gone to see one. I shouldn't be charged the full amount if my therapist is not registered. This is not right. Overall, I didn’t really have a great experience to be honest. For anyone else going here, ask questions. I doubt I’ll be going back.
