Refinery House

After decades in the beauty industry we’re tired of the word “transform”. We don’t touch hair and faces (and hopefully hearts) to “transform” them but to bring out their very very best. It’s about connecting with our personal styles while exploring hair colors and cuts, it’s about figuring out why something is happening in our bodies or hearts, it’s recognizing that beauty is an emotional experience. At the Refinery House, it’s not about becoming different, it’s about becoming the best version of ourselves. Pick a chair in the house. Any chair. A comfy couch with a glass of tea, under the scissors of a skilled stylist or across from a counsellor or midwife. We promise you this, we’ll always see more than your hair

I just had my first visit and first visit at Refinery House with Loralei Thompson, Thursday, April 17th. I have been waiting for years to find a salon and stylist(s) that can finally return my hair from brown to blonde! It was so easy and quick to book an appointment via text. The response was quick and so courteous and accommodating. When I arrived at the shop, it was So Clean, with Natural Lighting from all of the windows and an entire open area! The music was so relaxing, while a huge comfy couch with loungers were to my left and tables and chairs to my right - to have a tea/coffee or shop. I was immediately helped and consulted by two wonderful stylists (who I saw on fb, do training with all the other stylists monthly). I was offered tea, coffee or water in a ceramic mug (instead of paper cup) and was attended to the entire time. One exceptional note is that the wash sinks have a special padding, that for the first time ever, made my shampoo comfortable! They also provided a comfortable padded armchair while with leave-in treatments. I also enjoyed shopping in the store for unique, never seen before and quality items like 3" washable makeup removers, hair clips and marble candle holders! My hair was beautiful and I felt as though I had just been in a spa. Thank you, Refinery House. For finally offering what a lady needs. Gratefully, Allison Davison

I had a wonderful experience at Hair Refinery in downtown Chilliwack.Ashutosh did an incredible job with my cut and color. His extensive experience was evident he took time to listen and guide me through the best options for my hair and delivered exactly what i wanted . He demonstrated exceptional skill and professionalism in both coloring and cutting my hair. While the service is on the higher end,but totally worth it . I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for top notch hair services !

Chelsea did an AMAZING job on my hair! I got my hair colored for the first time and let her take the lead and she made my hair dreams come true! Will definitely come back! Love the aesthetic of the salon as well!!

I almost NEVER leave bad reviews, but trust me.. This one couldn’t be held back. I just came in today. I had an appointment at 9am for mini foils with one of the apprentices. I am pretty humble so I don’t mind having someone that is new work on my hair.. What bothered me at the very beginning was no one that higher above was watching her do my hair or keep an eye on her as at almost any other place you go to with with an apprentice, they are being monitored to make sure nothing is going wrong.. The start of the appointment was good, she was very lovely to talk to and I enjoyed her company, the first red flag for me was when she convinced me not to get mini foils and instead do a root smudge on its own. But i ignored my intuition. Throughout the appointment I watched her place the colour on my hair and not blend it AT ALL, usually with a root smudge you apply the colour and comb through or smudge it with your fingers, she did not do either of these steps. The colour did not take to my hair so then she put a darker colour on top, which would’ve been fine if again, she had smudged it properly. At the end of the appointment I felt a little gaslit into liking the colour as she met me with “this is more what you wanted!!” and just kept making me feel nervous to speak up. After I left and saw it in the daylight I realized it looked completely unblended, with no transition whatsoever and was WAY too dark, plus the toner that was used on my blonde didn’t really do anything. I immediately sent her pictures and a message saying that I was a bit unhappy with the results, not being mean at all, i was very nice about it, hoping for a response from her to possibly come back in the next day. Instead, I got left on read lol. Wow. So then, I called the salon and spoke to one of the receptionists who was very dismissive and said “Sooo, what are you not loving about it?” when I had JUST told her what I did not love about it. She told me to come back in for the apprentice to fix it, and I had said I didn’t feel comfortable with that as it could damage my hair even more. She then said she could book me back in for Tuesday with another stylist but it would cost more. (Are you kidding me? I have to pay to have a mistake your salon made fixed when an apprentice wasn’t be monitored?!) She then said she would speak to the apprentice and call me back. It has now been almost an hour and I have heard nothing back. So here I am, $140 later, colour removing my own hair at home. My mom is a level 4 hairstylist. Has been in the industry for over 25 years. I sent her a picture of the job and she was SHOCKED. At this point, I do not want it fixed. I want a refund and an apology. Moral of the story, do not come here. Overpriced, and rude employees.

I am not here to complain about my experience because Tami did an awesome job, I am disappointed with how things transpired. I was supposed to be seeing another stylist but she backed out at the very last minute without telling me why and I had planned everything in my day around getting my hair done at a certain time, maybe if I was told why she had to back out I might have had a better understanding, as it turned out I do give Tami 5 ???? but because of how things took place I believe I should have gotten a discount. Customers have to pay a price if they can't make their appointment I think that there should be one put in place for the customers too ????

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Rachel at Refinery House for a colour & cut, and I can’t recommend her enough! From the moment I walked in, she made me feel welcome and truly listened to my ideas and preferences. Rachel took my thoughts to heart and transformed my grown-out hair into exactly what I was hoping! She also cut my daughter’s hair for us so wonderfully. Not only is she incredibly skilled, but she’s also a wonderful conversationalist. I felt like I was catching up with a friend the whole time. It’s hard to imagine going to anyone else after such a fantastic experience. If you’re looking for a hairstylist who combines talent with a warm personality, Rachel is the one!
