I have been going to Serene Escapes for the past couple years now and Rhia is by far, my favorite therapist. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and listens well to address my needs and concerns. I always leave my sessions feeling better and feeling relieved. I highly recommend Rhia and am very grateful that I have found her as my go to massage therapist!

I went there yesterday and honestly, I won’t be going back— not a great experience. Summary: Looking for more pressure? Consider other places, especially if you don’t have insurance because I’m not sure you’re their target audience . Make sure to read the reviews, not just the positive ones. Details: I moved and needed a new massage place. I called to book an appointment and mentioned I was looking for a lot of pressure, the receptionist scheduled me with Pam as she is good with applying pressure. I arrived 5 minutes late for my appointment. I filled out the intake form and highlighted my neck and back as areas of concern and added comments to the form requesting a lot of pressure. Pam confirmed my preferences when I entered the room. About 15 minutes into the massage, Pam hadn’t asked me any questions about the massage or if the pressure was okay. I hoped she would, so I didn’t have to initiate the conversation. I wasn’t sure if the actual massage had started or if she was still assessing my body before the real deal. So, about 15 minutes in, I mentioned to Pam that I didn’t really feel anything and thought I’d need more pressure. She explained that with her sessions, she doesn’t immediately apply pressure; she works up to that. I said that was okay, but it would be nice to let people know what to expect at the beginning of the session. I think she may have been a bit annoyed then, so she asked when the last time I had a massage was. I said December, and she responded, “It’s March! It’s been three months, and you expect all your issues to be fixed in one visit?”. I was determined not to get angry at that comment, so I said, “No, I didn’t say that, and I don’t have insurance at the moment, so I can’t really afford to get a massage every month.” She then suggested that I book someone else. She gave me a name (she didn’t say this in a rude way or anything). She continued the massage, but at this point, i didn’t feel much; it was more like a rubbing sensation, like when you rub lotion on your body after a shower. She said that was the most she could do and if I wasn’t happy with her work, we could end the session I ended up shortening the time I had booked for initially because it just wasn’t working out. I felt like I had wasted my money. Also, when I finished and was paying, the front desk didn’t even ask for any feedback about my experience. I had cut my time short, and they simply didn’t seem interested in knowing what my experience had been or if I wanted to rebook, like other massage places do. It just showed that they didn’t care, and I’m not sure if it’s because I don’t have insurance, which is strange. Perhaps I’m not their target audience.

Carrie and Amruta are the masters of lash lifts! I also did a dermaplaning facial with Carrie and cannot say enough good things about her work! My skin feels so smooth and clean, and I was so relaxed throughout. ❤️

Highly recommend seeing Rhia Sydenham! She is very thorough in assessing your concerns and customizes the massage to address the concerns and even gives you tips and instructions for after the massage. My partner and I always go to her! she has been our go to for the past year and half!

I’ve been to many massage therapists over the years, but none have come close to the level of care, professionalism, and skill that Rhia provides. She takes the time to listen and understand exactly what your body needs, and the results speak for themselves. Whether you’re dealing with stress, muscle tension, or just need a moment to unwind, Rhia tailors each session perfectly. Every visit leaves me feeling refreshed, rebalanced, and completely relaxed. I truly can’t recommend her enough — if you’re thinking about booking a session, don’t hesitate. Your body will thank you!

I came today to treat myself (33 weeks pregnant) to a dermaplaning facial as on their website it says it is the best facial for pregnant women! It is uncomfortable for me to lie flat on my back at this point in pregnancy, so I asked to have the table inclined a touch. Carrie said it’s not possible for this appointment (fair, but this should be listed online), and that she has never had a pregnant woman complain about that and it is just 45 mins so I should be fine. I said I really can’t lie flat on my back it is really uncomfortable and by the 45 minute mark I think I would be in pain. From that point on she was quite unprofessional and shrugged and said it’s never been an issue before. I said I would need to cancel then and she was already turned around doing something else before I left. From one pregnant mom to the next, go elsewhere. I went to Spa Ritual in the NW a few weeks ago for a massage and they were lovely as ever and so cognizant of the fact that pregnancy is uncomfortable and that some positions are generally unsafe. Carrie, I hope one day when you have kids that you are treated more gently than you treated me today! Nobody (especially a paying customer) deserves that.

I have been seeing Carrie regularly for the past five years. She is my go to esthetician ! I see her for laser, derma plane facials, laser facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures. Carrie is always professional and friendly. She takes her craft seriously, explains all the procedures and makes excellent recommendations. I have health concerns and Carrie always makes sure I am comfortable and that anything she recommends is safe for me. I highly recommend Carrie and her services.
