I had a good experience at the spa, weather was great for the beginning of November! Drinks and food were great, easy directions to arrive. Staff were friendly, locker rooms were clean. Robes did not stay dry long and once wet they just became heavy and did not dry in between pools. One thing I could suggest would be to have more hanging options for your robes at the pools. I enjoyed a facial and it was very relaxing and would definitely do it again!
Attention, Attention Attention! Beautiful location, perfect local getaway even for a couple of hours, excellent facilities and the venue is spacious. A few attempts and you would be able to familiarize yourself on the map. Regrettably I have to inform the public that my boyfriend and I had a terrible experience when it came to customer service. Our massages wasn't sustainable at all , on both sides. I kindly ask Ken (my masseuse) to optimize the pressure and he just completely disregard my question. It felt as if he was caressing, it was an undelivered therapeutic massage. I would never recommend getting a massage there , it was the same experience for my boyfriend. Situation worsened as we left our rooms to go change into our regular attire. There was a young lady at the front desk who consistently kept on asking us to pay while we were in our robes thinking that we walked with our bags into the massage rooms. We had to explain to her multiple times that we needed to go to the locker room and we will pay on our departure. She followed us all over the facility until she finally decided to charge my card without my consent. (Maybe she felt we were going to escape without making a payment) This was odd to me as you have to give your credit card info in order to book a session. I personally wanted to use a different method of payment and preferred to have paid and make it a surprise for my boyfriend but she didn't allow for this to happen, she was antagonizing and condescending in so many ways. There is more to the story however I would prefer to keep it short, this experience made me and my boyfriend very uncomfortable as we are also people of color and we didn't want to jump to conclusions but she sure did try to make us feel that way. I wish I had asked for her name . I will work towards figuring out her shift that day and make a complaint against her.
Koena is great for the cost and proximity to the city! It’s small but hasn’t created any issues regarding being too packed. I usually turn to Koena for more regular outings and save other more expensive spas for more special occasions. I wish there was a membership option!
Great alternative to Spa Nordik in Chelsea area especially on a weekday at 6 pm attractive lower prices for you to enjoy 6-10pm visit as a couple or with friends to relax and rejuvenate. Sauna essential oils rituals 7:30 and 8:30pm , very cold 11 degrees Celsius pool dip right after. Dinner at the restaurant has nice menu, we enjoyed salmon, chicken , house salad and truffle fries. Delicious. Great value for money $ for an evening visit. We edited the older review because Koena expanded and added fantastic new features , I had to add new content and pictures! Even better than they were a year ago, we come here every month or two , you have to try it! Don’t forget to have lunch or dinner and massage to add up to your relaxation day!
My wife and I recently visited Koena Spa for what we hoped would be a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. For the most part, the day lived up to our expectations. The facilities were clean, the ambiance was serene, and we truly enjoyed the pools and steam rooms. It was exactly the escape we needed—until the very end. After a long day of unwinding, we decided to shower and freshen up before leaving. However, the experience took a sour turn when we encountered a staff member with short, blonde, purple hair at the front desk. She rudely questioned my wife about returning her towel and robe, which were both soaking wet from our day at the spa. Now, let me set the scene: after showering and washing off chlorine, one expects to leave feeling fresh and dry. Yet, we were expected to carry a wet, heavy robe and towel back to the front desk. When my wife politely explained that the towel and robe were saturated and she was now dry, the staff member condescendingly insisted that she must bring them to the front. My wife’s response summed up the absurdity of the situation perfectly: “You want me to carry a soaked wet towel and robe, which weighs a few pounds in water, in my dry and cleaned self, to the front? That will make you happy?” The dismissive attitude and lack of understanding from the staff member left a bad taste in our mouths. After spending the day relaxing, this unnecessary and unpleasant interaction was not what we anticipated. Unfortunately, this experience has convinced us to save our money and take our business to Nordik Spa instead. Koena Spa, if you’re reading this, please reconsider your policies—or at least train your staff to communicate them with more empathy. No guest should leave feeling disrespected after what’s supposed to be a day of relaxation.
We re-visited Koena Spa and had a generally pleasant experience. The spa itself is quaint, serene, well-appointed, and can be truly relaxing. The ambiance is mainly peaceful, with calming scents and soft lighting that set the perfect tone for a rejuvenating experience. The staff were present trying to control the many celebratory groups. We really enjoyed our massages and facial services. Comparison: If you enjoy Nordic, know it is not the same experience. As silly as wanting to change up a wet robe it will be an additional $9 per person. Towel replacements are endless? Only 1 indoor tight cafeteria style bar, so be ready to wait for your drink. Why is there no outdoor option or waiter service. The lost star - as a customer you get to experience the level of miscommunication between the Cartier Hotel (where we stayed) and the spa. It really left a bad taste once again. Consider only booking the spa without the hotel or not at all and go to Nordic as Carter and Koena like to play with your time going back and forth from one counter to the other. I will be leaving a first time ever 2 star review for the Chateau Cartier Hotel.
Absolutely beautiful! I was curious about this place, and decided to give it a try. The facilities are super clean, the staff is friendly and when I visited, it was not crowded. I highly recommend this place to people who are looking to treat themselves for a relaxing time at an affordable price!
Really enjoyed our time there and the restaurant options are amazing. We had issues with the locker in the change room but the overall experience was great. Would definitely go back.
