"I had a deluxe shellac manucure before leaving for a vacation in April. The shellac was not applied properly and I went back to have it reapplied on a number of nails. By day 12, it started to bubble on one nail, and on day 25, I was finally able to get an appointment in YSS for a removal, which is complementary. What followed was even worse. I was assigned to a new nail tech at the spa, Naz. She used a metal drill to remove my shellac, which she claimed was safe. I was very uncomfortable and kept tensing my hand. Acetone should always be used to remove shellac and protect the natural nail. I should have insisted, but she seemed confident. I reluctantly agreed to try the dip, believing, as the nail tech claimed, that it would help strengthen my nails. I later learned the tech double dipped, which poses a serious health risk. I reported the practice to Ottawa Public Health. The advice the inspector gave me was this: never agree to a service that you are not comfortable with. You pay a lot of money for the manucure service and it should always be done respecting health protocols. I know what I need to do now: have the dip triple coat removed. I am awaiting a response from the manager at YSS. I have generally been happy with services at YSS in the past, but wonder why they chose to place me in the hands of a nail tech who is obviously more motivated by financial reward than the health of the client's nails. My nails hurt. The shellac removal was botched, the dip service was unsafe and the results are simply not there. It's just not worth it. Trust your gut. 120$ plus tip later, I wish I had spoken up."

"I visited this salon a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier with the experience!! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Michelle, the stylist who worked with me, was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and gave me a consultation since it was my first appointment. She gave me a lil massage and used some essentials oils which I found made the experience much more enjoyable! The result was exactly what I hoped for <3 . "I’ve been to Sage Wellness a couple of times now, and I can honestly say I’ve never felt more safe and well taken care of. I've had the pleasure of getting massages with Adrienne twice, and I absolutely love how much care she puts into her work. She has this ability to adjust her techniques based on my needs, which makes me feel truly cared for. The receptionist is always so welcoming and kind, creating a warm atmosphere right from the start. One small thing I’d mention is that sometimes I’ve noticed staff speaking a bit loudly in the hallway, and during my last visit, I could hear an entire conversation from the room next door (I think it might have been the lunch break room?). Since I understand it's not just a massage space and other services are taking place, it’s not a huge issue for me. Overall, I’m very happy with my visits and will definitely be returning! :D"

"A colleague recommended Sage Wellness over 6 years ago, when I was desperate for relief of a ongoing migraine. The therapist that happened to be available that day was Eric and I have been a client of his ever since. From that first appointment, Eric has proven to be very knowledgeable, especially when it comes to posture/migraines related issues. Unlike other RMTs I have seen previously, he offers deep tissue release. Eric communicates throughout the session asking about the pressure used, asks for consent prior to treating certain areas and is also responsive to my body language when working on troubled areas. I've recommended Eric to many friends over the years and some were new to massage therapy. I always remind them to communicate their needs to the therapist throughout the session to ensure they establish a trusting relationship with their RMT and get the most out of their treatment time."
