"I really wanted to love this place, it's so close to where I live. Before booking, I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the receptionist, clearly outlining what I needed: someone gentle, knowledgeable, not salesy; a focus on extractions; and extra care due to my super sensitive skin. She confidently recommended someone, and I trusted her. This was my self-care moment for the week. I arrived early, filled out the forms, and waited about 25 minutes before I was called in. The specialist was kind and personable, but immediately started upselling me — even though I had specifically asked not to be sold to. Midway through the treatment, I agreed to a hydration facial. Only then did I find out the steamer — a critical part of any extraction facial — was broken. No one had mentioned this when I booked, when I arrived, or during the 10 minutes I spoke with the specialist before we started. I had made it clear multiple times how easily my skin reacts and how crucial it was to proceed with care. Without the steamer, the extractions were incredibly painful. My skin felt like it was being torn. By the end, when she applied cooling gels, my face felt like it was on fire. I was told “a little stinging is normal” — but this wasn’t that. Five days later, my face is still red, inflamed, and peeling. I’m breaking out in ways I never have before, especially around the nose and chin where the extractions were most aggressive. Moisturizer burns. My skin barrier is clearly completely compromised. What’s most frustrating is how avoidable this all was. I’m tired of places not being upfront about things that materially affect your service. I don’t think it’s fair that customers are left dealing with the consequences — especially when we’re expected to tip generously regardless of the outcome. I appreciated that the staff were kind and refunded me — but honestly, I wish I hadn’t gone. A $100 refund doesn’t undo the damage. Had someone simply told me the steamer wasn’t working, I never would have gone through with it. This experience was everything I feared it would be, and now I'm left paying the price."

"I purchased a membership, while the treatments are great it is hard to cancel their membership. I gave 30 day notice and still being charged for it. When I called back they said my account was frozen not cancelled. The manager called me trying to retain my business, which I can appreciate, but sadly it is hard to make appointments, no one ever picks up the phone, and when you are looking to cancel your membership no one seems to honour the request."

"My honest review: the massages are good, original Thai massage therapy great to help with pain and ease tension. The problem: The place is small and super tiny, no walls just sheets of fabric separating your room from another. people like to walk in during your ongoing massage session to fix things inside the massage room without any prior notice or permission. No privacy, no boundaries are observed people walk in & out when you are lying on the massage table. Why would you provide such an unsavory experience to a paying customer? I have been visiting this place since the past 6 months but invasion of my privacy was never a concern today it is !"

"Like restaurants that receive 3 Michelin stars, this Thai spa is worth the visit to the entire country of Canada! My husband and I had an incredible experience at Shivaga. It was our first Thai massage, but the therapists were so professional and explained the different pressure points. It was a little painful at times (the good kind of pain!) but at the end of the treatment, my body felt so centered and relaxed. Norman also taught me methods to massage myself so that I can reduce tension and back pain. The price was very reasonable, and the place is clean with a relaxing atmosphere. Overall, an amazing experience, and we would travel back to Toronto just to have a Thai massage at Shivaga!"
